Description The MSc in Economics is a two-year degree programme of 120 ECTS. This programme is intended to equip you with the main tools of the professional economist, whether you intend to work in government, finance and banking, international organisations or private sector firms such as economic consultancies. The programme consists of a number of constituent and optional courses. The mandatory courses ensure that you get a solid theoretical and methodological foundation, while you with the electives have the opportunity to pursue your areas of interest. The teaching is mainly organised as lectures and lessons where you get practical assignments. In addition, individual supervision will be given. The programme is concluded with your thesis. Programme structure . Career Opportunities The MSc in Economics offers opportunities for employment within a very broad professional spectrum. Thus, the programme is targeted towards employment in both the public and private sectors, including businesses and trade organisations. Recent employment studies have shown that employment in ministries, teaching and research institutions, and with local authorities is common, as is employment in the private sector, e.g. as consultants and in banks. Graduates also find employment in international organisations such as the European Union, OECD, the UN, etc. where economic expertise is in high demand. Finally, the MSc in Economics can be the starting point for a career in research, e.g. as a Ph.D. student. Admission The admission requirement for the M.Sc. in Economics (cand.oecon.) is the Danish three-year BSc in Economics, BSc in Economics and Business Administration (HA) or BSc in Mathematics and Economy. Applicants with other relevant backgrounds can also apply. The applications will be evaluated on an individual basis. If your degree does not fulfil the entry requirements, the study board will decide whether you can follow one or more supplementary courses.
