Study at Aarhus University
Aarhus University is Denmark's second-oldest university, established in 1928 and now one of northern Europe's larger research-intensive institutions. It is organised into five faculties covering arts, health, natural sciences, technical sciences and business and social sciences, supported by more than forty major research centres. The main campus sits in a distinctive yellow-brick park setting at Nordre Ringgade in the city of Aarhus, with additional campuses in Herning and Emdrup, a new campus under development at Foulum, and research activity spread across eighteen locations in Denmark, Greenland and Tenerife. In total the university occupies roughly 620,000 square metres of buildings. Around 37,500 students are enrolled across bachelor's, master's, PhD and part-time programmes, including some 2,000 doctoral candidates, and the university employs about 9,000 full-time-equivalent staff who publish in the region of 8,200 peer-reviewed articles a year. For international applicants, Aarhus offers more than fifty bachelor's and master's degree programmes taught entirely in English, alongside a large exchange and guest-student intake drawn from over 120 countries. The university places consistently inside the world's top 100 to 150 institutions across the main global league tables and is ranked among the most international universities worldwide.
