Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Technology, Specialisation of Energy Engineering

Description During the MSc programme in Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Technology (HYTEC), you will study energy systems based on hydrogen and fuel cell technology. The programme covers production of hydrogen, application of hydrogen in fuel cells and interaction with other energy systems. Hydrogen technology is a very important aspect in future industrial energy supply systems but also in the transport industry and energy storage systems. The teaching of the programme is carried out in an innovative, dynamic and challenging environment through a combination of research-based courses, team-based project work and a high degree of interaction with industrial partners and energy supply companies. The companies take an active part in providing project proposals for the problem-oriented project work, guest lectures and visits to the companies. The programme provides knowledge of modelling and optimisation of the thermal, electrical and chemical subsystems. Career opportunities include R&D departments in major companies working with hydrogen and fuel cells based technologies and systems. The teaching is carried out in English because many international students are enrolled in the study programme. Career Opportunities Energy engineers with specialisation in Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Technology have a wide range of job opportunities. You can work with project engineering, research, development and management in Danish and international industries or public institutions. Problem based learning and working in groups during your study programme will give you many useful skills that make you an attractive candidate on the job market. You know how to approach a problem and solve it in collaboration with other people, which is often how things are done in companies.. Examples of possible employers: Companies involved directly in fuel cells and hydrogen technology such as Danfoss, IRD Fuel Cell Technology, Dantherm Power and Ballard Energy supply companies such as Vattenfall, Ørsted, Energinet.dk Other thermo-mechanical companies Maersk Olie og Gas Grundfos Serenergy A/S NEL Hydrogen KK Wind Solutions A/S Lithium Balance ABB Siemens Volvo The public sector Power plants Consultancies. Your work tasks may include: Fuel cell systems Biofuels Energy distribution to the general population Energy optimisation of apparatus, systems and households Development of new energy technologies and systems Analysing new energy technologies Researching energy resources Consulting Teaching Assessing the sustainability of different forms of energy Energy efficiency in the production and consumption of energy.
