Global Health

Description The MSc in Global Health is a research-based, cross-disciplinary Master of Science programme offered by the University of Copenhagen, as part of the research and educational activities organised by the Copenhagen School of Global Health. The programme comprises, among others, the following disciplines: medical anthropology, biology and biomedicine, demography, epidemiology, medicine, nutrition, public and international health, economics, political and social science, and sociology. Teaching and learning methods varies between lectures and classroom instruction, visits to field sites, case and project work carried out individually or together with other students. Students are encouraged to participate actively in class discussions. Career Opportunities The MSc in Global Health is aimed at job functions related to a diverse national and international sector that holds many opportunities for professional jobs as advisors, consultants and programme managers. Sectors of particular relevance are: Development agencies with national and international scope where graduates are involved in implementing, managing and monitoring development activities, such as WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, UNDP, The World Bank, European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, International Red Cross, Save the Children, etc. Private companies, consultancies and industries dealing with health such as pharmaceutical and medical companies, the food industry, patent organisations and private consultancy firms Government bodies and public authorities where graduates are involved in policy related activities, such as Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Board of Health and Ministry of Refugee, Immigration and Integration Affairs. Universities and research institutions where graduates are involved in research. Admission Applicants must have completed a Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to Global Health: Public Health Science Sociology Geography and Geoinformatics Political Science Anthropology Health Informatics Psychology Dental Surgery Veterinary Medicine Food and Nutrition Development Studies Biology Medicine BSc in Nursing BSc in Global Nutrition and Health Applicants must prove that they have passed courses in quantative methods (including statistical methods) and qualitative methods equivalent to a minimum of 5 ECTS each. The Bachelor's degree upon which applicants base their application must have been passed within three years before the initiation of the first semester of the master's programme.
