Description The Master´s programme in International Relations aims at providing an interdisciplinary and critical insight in studies of development and international relations from a social sciences' perspective. Graduates will acquire knowledge about various theoretical approaches to the study of development and international relations, ability to analyse aspects of economic, cultural, political and societal developments from an interdisciplinary perspective, and benefit from the experience of working in an intercultural environment derived both from participation in the international degree program at Aalborg University and from an internship. The private sector is an important job market where International Relations graduates work on issues related to for instance international markets, sustainability, gender policies, and lobbying. Many graduates are also employed in public administration on both a national and regional level as well as in consulates and embassies around the globe. International organisations like the UN and the EU are also important career goals for our graduates, who often begin their international careers in NGO’s and civil society organizations. For some students it may lead to PhD studies or a career in teaching and research. About the Degree It is possible to study International Relations for one or two semesters as a guest/exchange student. Guest/exchange students studying two semesters will obtain a one-year specialization Diploma. Note that guest/exchange students who are admitted for one semester will only obtain academic credits but not the diploma. Admission Admission presupposes a relevant Bachelor Degree. Most Social science bachelors are deemed relevant. While a bachelor’s degree in a social science for instance economics, international relations or political science is directly relevant, other degrees such as history, geography, international studies, law or anthropology are equally qualified for admission. In addition, documentation will be required verifying an English proficiency at a specified level.
