TV Journalism: Video Story telling

Description This one-semester full time course combines practical TV-journalistic training with theoretical studies. You will produce sharply angled stories in the style of “Foreign correspondent reporting”. In addition, you will acquire analytical skills of TV/video stories through the use of academic theory and approaches. You will reflect upon journalism in general and upon your own practice, including ethical and professional dilemmas. DMJX  - Campus Aarhus has very good educational and training facilities for TV-journalism with exclusive access to shooting and editing facilities throughout the course. As a result of this semester you can achieve the following: Know the characteristics of foreign correspondent reporting; Know how inclusive journalism can be the point of departure for production of current affairs pagkages for TV; Obtain increased knowledge of Danish politics, European affairs and World Politics in general, and understanding of the cultural differences and challenges, in particular; Master the shoot with a digital HD camera and how to edit digitally using Final Cut Pro software; Learn about the possibilities for using a smartphone in reporting situations; Gain knowledge on the opportunities and ethical problems in using social media in research, and for publishing TV stories; Develop journalistic skills by working and studying in an international atmosphere that combines practical teaching with academic studies. Admission To apply for the course TV Journalism you must have: A minimum of 2 years training and/or experience in journalism. It is an advanced undergraduate program, and there will also be graduate level students participating in the programme. Language requirements; All courses are taught in English. Participants must have a good command of the English language, both written and oral. Non-native English speakers should include a copy of their TOEFL test results (minimum score 550 or computer based 80)/ IELTS test of 6.5 or have the test results sent to our address). Other requirements If you are a citizen in a EU country, you need to be enrolled at a home institution/university in order to apply for the course. Tuition There is a tuition fee for all full-time degree students who hold a citizenship from outside of EU/EAA/Switzerland. Students within an exchange programme are not required to pay tuition.
