The course covers different administrative sectors that rely on differing levels of AI-generated decision-making. It offers an overview of key EU regulations relevant to the lawful development and operation of these decision systems and examines how these regulations align with fundamental principles of administrative law, such as transparency, reasoning, access to information and more. This course is interactive, utilising a case-based approach from different EU countries to bridge diverse experiences. This intercultural focus creates an understanding of how culture and national approaches influence the handling of AI-based decision making in different Member States. The course is also innovative, as it addresses real-world challenges in AI agency implementation. Additionally, it is interdisciplinary, incorporating elements of sociology and data science to explore both the technical aspects of AI and how it is perceived and applied by individual caseworkers.
